I made these shelves from an old coat hook that my parents used to have in their first house.
I started by sanding it down with an electric sander. There was quite a lot of varnish so it took a while.
Then I measured the length of shelves that I wanted and marked the wood. I cut them and sanded the edges.
There was a little bit of wood left at the end and I used this to test out different varnishes and waxes. Once I found the one I liked I varnished the wood and left it to dry for a while.
The brackets I already had ( I think from B&Q ) and I attached them to the shelves before I put the shelves on the wall.
I hung them up with a spirit level and made sure to mark properly on the wall before drilling.
